GUIDELINES

Please note the policy for school-year-only programs (effective May 29, 2007).

We anticipate the number of proposals received and dollars requested will exceed our available resources. We thank grant seekers in advance for the work put into the proposals. We learn from each one, regardless of our ability to fund.

All requests of the Temple Hoyne Buell Foundation must be consistent with our mission and guidelines and made in writing to the offices of the Foundation. Grant seekers are encouraged to call with any questions.

Organizations are limited to one grant request in any 12-month period (e.g., if a proposal is submitted for the May deadline, an organization is first eligible to reapply the following May).

Reports are required for grants awarded. The Foundation will not consider an organization’s future requests for funding if required reports have not been submitted.  We accept the Common Grant Report Format (CGRF).

Final grant decisions are made and monies released approximately four months after each deadline.  We are unable to respond to emergency funding needs.

Due to our small staff, it is not feasible for us to meet personally with grant seekers before an application is submitted.  After receipt of an application, we will contact you if we need additional information and/or if we wish to schedule a site visit or meeting.

Applications for school-year-only programs will not be accepted for the May deadline. At a site visit, we want to see the program in action and be able to talk to all the appropriate people. Generally, seeing an abbreviated program is not acceptable. If the primary program for which you are requesting funding operates only between August and June, please plan to apply at the September or January deadline.

Send one (1) full application with attachments as described in the Grant Application (see below).
