The Buell Foundation seeks programs that have demonstrated success in helping children thrive.  We support efforts to improve quality and encourage meaningful evaluation and assessment.  It is our goal to partner with outstanding organizations to improve the systems that serve children.  Particular focus will be placed on programs that target underserved communities.

Early Childhood Education and Development

The Foundation will consider proposals in the following areas that directly support the healthy development of very young children:

	Early childhood and preschool programs
	Home visitation
	Professional development and education for service providers
	Parent and child interaction
	Parenting education
	Language development and early literacy
	Behavior and social competence in classroom situations

Social and Emotional Development of Children

The Foundation will consider proposals in the following area that enhances the self-esteem and social competence of elementary school children.  Programs should be comprehensive in scope and offer sustained interactions with the participants:

Constructive activities during non-school hours in selected geographic areas

Family Stability for Children

The Foundation will consider proposals in the following area.  Programs should be comprehensive and should be able to prove effectiveness:
